Terms and conditions of sale
Version of 14 August 2026 — applicable to any booking confirmed from this date onwards.
1. Who we are
These terms and conditions of sale (“the Terms”) govern the stays and services offered by Château de Conon, a French société par actions simplifiée (simplified joint-stock company) with a share capital of €100,000, registered with the Blois Trade and Companies Register (RCS) under number 839 428 752, whose registered office is at Château de Conon, 1 Chemin du Château de Conon, 41120 Cellettes, France — intra-Community VAT number FR10 839 428 752 (“the Estate”).
Telephone: +33 2 54 78 14 43 · Email: contact@chateau-conon.fr.
2. What these terms cover
The Terms apply to the furnished holiday letting of the Estate’s accommodation — Le Château, L’Orangerie, La Bergerie, La Conciergerie and L’Écurie, as well as exclusive hire of the whole estate — and to the services that accompany a stay (reception spaces, options), booked directly with us: through our online booking module, on a quote, or by written exchange with our team.
Bookings made through a third-party platform (Airbnb, Booking.com…) remain governed by that platform’s terms as regards booking, payment and cancellation; the house rules in articles 10 to 14, on the other hand, apply to all our guests.
The version that applies is the one in force on the day of booking. By booking, you accept these Terms.
3. Quotes and special terms
For bespoke stays, groups, exclusive hire and events, the Estate draws up a quote. The terms stated on the quote — services, prices, payment schedule, specific cancellation terms or security deposit — constitute special terms: they supplement these Terms and take precedence over them in the event of any conflict.
The quote is accepted online, with the wording “Read and approved” together with an electronic signature. The records of our system (timestamp, IP address, signature) serve as proof of the agreement between the parties.
4. Booking
Online, the total price of the stay is displayed before any payment is taken; the booking is recorded when the deposit is paid. On a quote, it is recorded when the quote is accepted and the deposit it sets out is paid. In both cases, the booking becomes firm once the deposit has been received and our written confirmation has been sent.
Bookings are made by an adult, who guarantees the accuracy of the information provided. The number of occupants may not exceed the capacity stated on the house’s page or on the quote.
Our photographs and descriptions are as faithful as possible; slight seasonal variations (planting, garden furniture) do not give rise to any liability on our part.
5. Prices, VAT and tourist tax
Our prices are in euros, all taxes included. Accommodation and the services that go with it carry VAT at 10% (the French para-hotel regime); services separable from the accommodation — for example, hiring a reception space on its own — carry their own rate, stated on the quote. The breakdown appears on your confirmation or your quote.
Tourist tax is not included: it is collected in addition, at the local authority’s current rates, with the payment for your stay or on site, depending on the booking channel.
6. Payment
Unless the quote states otherwise, the payment schedule is as follows:
- 50% of the price of the stay when the booking is confirmed;
- the balance 15 days before arrival;
- for any booking made less than 15 days before arrival, the full amount is paid at the time of booking.
Payment is made by card through our secure booking module or, for quotes, as set out on the quote (card or bank transfer). If the balance remains unpaid at the due date despite our reminder, the booking is deemed cancelled by the guest (article 8).
7. Right of withdrawal
In accordance with article L221-28, 12° of the French Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal does not apply to accommodation services provided for a specific date. The cancellation terms of article 8 apply instead.
8. Cancellation by the guest
- Up to 90 days before arrival: the deposit you have paid is returned to you in full.
- From 89 to 30 days before arrival: the deposit is retained by the Estate; the balance is not due.
- Less than 30 days before arrival: the sums paid are retained by the Estate.
Cancellations are notified in writing to contact@chateau-conon.fr; the date of receipt is authoritative. Sums paid in advance are down payments (“acomptes” under French law): by express agreement, they confer no right to cancel other than in the cases above. No-shows and cut-short stays give rise to no refund.
If something serious gets in the way, talk to us: we always look for a solution, starting with new dates subject to availability — though this is not a commitment. We recommend taking out cancellation insurance with your own insurer; the Estate does not sell any.
9. Cancellation or changes by the Estate
Should the Estate have to cancel your stay, the sums paid would be refunded to you in full and without delay; wherever possible, we would offer you equivalent alternative accommodation or a postponement. If the cancellation does not result from force majeure, you may also claim compensation for your direct and reasonable loss. In the event of force majeure (article 1218 of the French Civil Code), the full refund carries no further compensation.
10. Arrival and departure
Unless stated otherwise on the house’s page or on the quote, arrivals are from 4 pm — we welcome you in person, so tell us your arrival time — and departures by 10 am (11 am when the whole estate is booked exclusively). The welcome booklet provided for your stay covers the practical details.
11. Security deposit
A security deposit of €2,000 is requested as a cheque made out to SAS Château de Conon, handed over on arrival and not cashed. It is returned at departure once the house has been checked, or within 15 days at the latest, less any duly substantiated sums: damage, missing furniture or equipment, unusually heavy cleaning, or occupancy above the permitted capacity. Should the damage exceed the amount of the security deposit, the Estate reserves the right to recover the difference. A quote may provide for a different amount or different arrangements.
12. House rules
- Capacity: the number of occupants is the number booked; daytime visitors are welcome with our prior agreement.
- Parties and events: only with our written agreement, as part of an exclusive hire or a quote.
- Peace and quiet: the houses stand close to one another — after 10 pm, voices and music are kept low.
- No smoking indoors.
- Pets: welcome (€15 per pet per night), kept on a lead in the grounds and never around the ponds; any damage they cause is the guest’s responsibility.
- Children: under their parents’ supervision throughout the estate.
- Subletting and transferring the booking are not permitted.
13. Pool, grounds and shared facilities
The heated pool is open from May to October, from 9 am to 8 pm. It is not supervised: swimming is under the adults’ responsibility, children are accompanied at all times, and the gate is closed behind you every time. The grounds are open from sunrise to sunset; the pool, the grounds and the barbecue are shared between the Estate’s guests, except when the whole estate is booked exclusively. The grounds are home to the monumental sculptures of the Musée-Promenade Louis Derbré: please treat them with care.
14. Cleaning, linen and equipment
Household linen is provided. End-of-stay cleaning fees, where they apply, are shown at booking or on the quote; the house is returned tidy, washing-up done. Cots and high chairs on request, at no extra charge. Wi-Fi is provided free of charge, with no guarantee of speed or continuity. Any breakdown or fault reported during the stay is dealt with as quickly as possible.
15. Insurance
The guest certifies that they hold holiday third-party liability insurance (included in most home insurance policies) and can produce a certificate on request. Cancellation insurance is recommended (article 8).
16. Liability
The Estate is liable under the ordinary rules of French law. It offers no safekeeping service for personal belongings: valuables remain in their owners’ care, in the houses as in vehicles. The guest is liable for damage caused by the people and animals taking part in their stay.
17. Personal data
The data you provide is used to manage the booking and the stay. Full details of how it is processed appear in our privacy policy; it is never passed on to third parties.
18. Complaints and mediation
A difficulty? Write to us first at contact@chateau-conon.fr: we answer every message with care. If our reply does not satisfy you, or if none reaches you within 60 days, you may refer the matter, free of charge, to the consumer mediator the Estate has joined: CM2C — Centre de médiation de la consommation de conciliateurs de justice, 49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris — cm2c.net (referral online or by post), within one year of your written complaint.
19. Governing law and language
These Terms are governed by French law. Their translations are provided as a courtesy: in the event of any discrepancy, the French version prevails. Should any of their clauses be held invalid, the others would remain fully in force.
